Power Points System versus the CFP Selection Committee

Listed below are the selection committee rankings for the Power Points System's top four teams during the same week for the past three seasons based on all games and FBS games only. For example, based on all games, the Power Points System's top four teams in the committee poll's third week included that poll's #1, #2, #3, and #11 teams. Through 19 polls, the Power Point System's all games results include 64 of 76 Committee top four teams and 54 of 57 top three teams. Through the last 13 polls, the Power Points System's top four teams based on FBS games only include 44 of 52 Committee top four teams and 38 of 39 top three teams. Under both scenarios, the Power Points System agreed with the committee on 11 of 12 playoff teams. The Power Points System favored #15 Western Michigan over #4 Washington based on all games and #5 Penn State over #4 Washington based on FBS games only. Washington finished fifth in the Power Points System under both scenarios.
